Happy Solstice

So last night after much deliberation and fannying about we set sail for Stanton Moor, it was gone 1am when we finally set off but that still left us over 3 hours to complete the mission we’d set ourselves. Upon landing at Stanton I was firstly overwhelmed by the amount of people this place seems to gather these days, long gone are the proper drum circles of old, I think I heard 2 drummers and many, many ‘pretentious university student wannabe hippy’ accents mingled in with the ‘rich parent hippy’ accent that we’ve all heard from time to time.

Some of the old schoolers were there but I do have to say that it’s lost the charms of old. After an hour of sitting around, being fairly bored we decided to get back in the car and head over to Arbor Low for the sunrise as there’s none to be had at the nine ladies site due to the trees (had the hippies let the authorities take the trees down they might have been able to enjoy what the Solstice morning is all about). A brief stop by the druids caves at Birchover and we landed at Arbor Low for quite a marvellous sunrise, a little cloudly but quite spectacular none the less… enjoy… I did. :)>
