I’m rather convinced that the Reef​ gig last week has broken me. I’m still buzzing from it 4 days later and I’ve not listened to another band since. Furthermore it’s left me contemplating whether I actually enjoy seeing metal bands live any more as they just don’t give me the same feeling as that gig did.
Just a short one, saw these a couple of weeks back (March 9th 2015). My god they were good, nice to see Pepper Keenan back where he should be. Down are alright but these have always held a special place in my heart.
Whilst I entered this gig with possibly too much expectation for my usual self I can’t deny being at least a little disappointed. The music was good, the sound quality was good, the band however didn’t seem with it, Robb talked at great length in between tracks, barely played his guitar and seemed to be struggling with the words to some degree.
It has to be said that if you want an enjoyable evening then there is nothing quite like a Flaming Lips gig. No rubber bubble this time (Rock City is probably a bit small for that kind of behaviour) but my word… giant screens, huge strobes, confetti cannons, baby dolls, 4 new members and a whole night club full of people grinning like Cheshire cats.
